Week 37

Photo shoot in Manly :)
Up overlooking Manly Beach as the sun sets.

*How far along?: 37 Weeks

*Total weight gain: 13.9 kilos which is about 30.5 pounds

*How big is baby?: Sparky is the size of a watermelon (Week 1 of Month 9)
Today brings two beautiful words: full-term. Now, whenever baby's born, he's likely to thrive. Baby is gaining about 1/2 ounce a day and getting his first sticky poo (called meconium) ready. He's also brushing up on skills for the outside world: blinking, sucking, inhaling, exhaling, and gripping (it's getting strong!).

*Maternity clothes?: Ah yes, I have started wearing my belly bands again as well - so that I don't have a strip of stomach showing between trousers & shirt!

*Sleep?: Still fairly good, but I can't sleep in anymore. My back gets sore from the weight after 8-9 hours of laying down, and it seems Sparky has started shifting right to the front in my sleep - that must be why my back gets sore! Sparky wakes up at about 6ish and I can feel him moving around - getting me used to early mornings I guess:)

*Best moment this week? My doctor telling me Sparky is in a great position, nice down low! Also hitting 'full term' is VERY exciting - so nice to know that more than likely Sparky would do fine being born any time from now!

*Movement?: Still quite a lot - he acutally has shifted back to my right side now (where he has been hanging out for months & months). For some reason last week he moved to the left - but he's definitely back now. It was weird to feel kicks on my right side for a week!

*Food cravings?: Just as of this week I feel like if you let me loose in a chocolate store I would eat myself sick! I'm just LOVING chocolate - have to have at least a little piece every day. Still loving fruits too - bananas, oranges & apples!

*Labor signs?: Too soon for that!

*Belly button in or out?: very much a flattie still

*What I miss: Hmmm nothing really - all is well :) I am looking forward to having some sushi & brie though!

*What I'm looking forward to: FOUR MORE DAYS OF WORK!!!

*Milestone: Moving into month 9 - wow wow wow - I can't quite believe it!

*Feelings this week:
** Definitely getting more emotional now. Sad commercials, songs on the radio, even just going to the maternity floor at the hospital this week for an appointment had me tearing up. I'm excited, I can't wait to see Sparky, and of course I'm a bit nervous about all the unknowns. But I feel ready - as ready as I can be I guess

* Thanks for the guesses everyone - will be fun to see who guesses the closest in the end!

Full Term Today!!!!

Today Sparky has been cooking for officially 37 weeks - which is considered 'Full Term'

HOORAY - how exciting - only 21 days now until Sparky's due date:) (A full term baby is 37-42 weeks gestation)

I do hope he cooks for at least a few more weeks - but it's a great milestone to hit.

I'm glad everyone enjoyed the video so much! I'll try and see if I can catch him moving again some time as they are fun to post!

I am SO looking forward to morning walks in Manly with Sparky as well - check out these dolphins Sprout Daily spotted this morning just off shore!!!

Sparky on the move

I'm not a big fan of bare bump photos..... but I managed to catch Sparky on camera last night bumping around like crazy - so I thought it would be fun to share:)

Something to order perhaps?

In case Sparky is born bald?
'No baby, No cry' made me laugh out loud! Ha :)

Week 36

*How far along?: 36 Weeks

*Total weight gain: 13.4 kilos which is about 29 pounds

*How big is baby?: Sparky is the size of a honeydew (Week 4 - last week of Month 8)

Your baby is now in normal proportions. Up until about 36 weeks their head size is larger than their belly size, but by 36 weeks this equalises and from now on, their belly size is larger than their head. At 36 to 37 weeks your baby's lungs are fully mature.

*Maternity clothes?: Yes of course - now that my autumn jacket is out it's interesting just trying to get ONE button done up so my coat stays on:)

*Sleep?: Pretty good - knock on wood. Although I do find it harder to breathe when I lay down now, an extra pillow under my head helps give my lungs a bit more room and saves Murray from hearing me snoring all night long. Sparky doesn't like me to sleep later than 7am either, which is my normal week day time to get up. Saturday morning he was having a little dance party at 7, so I gave up on trying to sleep and in and just got up to start my day:) I do feel Sparky getting heavier though, it is an effort to turn over - just feels like a huge weight on my front now, I swear I can almost feel him shifting from side to side as I roll over!

*Best moment this week? No particular moment - but I do love all the movement! Although a highlight of the week was going to the hospital to see Cassie & Hamish's new baby Lennox. SO exciting to think our little one will be an 'outside baby' soon too! He was a bit heavy to hold though since I had to rest him on my bump to be comfortable - Sparky didn't like that at all!

*Movement?: Still lots & lots - seems like more every day.

*Food cravings?: Nothing in particular

*Labor signs?: Too soon for that!

*Belly button in or out?: still a flattie - but on the verge of popping out some days if I eat a lot - eeeeeeeeek

*What I miss: Hmmm nothing really - all is well :)

*What I'm looking forward to: Sparky being considered officially 'full term' on Thursday (37-42 weeks is full term - because all they do in this last month is put on weight!).

*Milestone: Last month of month 8 - WOW - time has flown!

*Feelings this week:
**Our diaper bag arrived this week - hooray! Going to get it packed up and ready for the hospital now - it is the brand petunia pickle bottom and I loooooooooooooove it!

**I'm just about done doing all the washing - this week I did the 000 clothing, just a few more blankets, etc. left to clean! We love these cute booties with rattles in them that I bought awhile ago at the Mosman markets!

* LOTS of guesses now - FUN - thanks everyone for playing:) I will enter mine now too - although I preface by saying this is a guess, not a preference (of course:)

Good Practice

Last night we stopped by the hospital to see Cassie & Hamish's new baby Lennox

It was SO cool to be holding him - after months and months of pilates with Cassie & comparing our bumps:) He is gorgeous, head full of dark hair, lovely features, just perfect. It was surreal to be holding a newborn though - ages since I have done that. So tiny! I just can't believe we will HAVE one of these in a few weeks - OH MY GOSH!! I only held him for a short time though, because the bump was in the way I sort of rested him on it, which was quite uncomfortable and heavy - Sparky even started kicking around like 'hey - this is MY space' ha ha. It was wonderful to have a little cuddle with Lennox though:)
