Kombi Krazy

I just remembered this morning that we didn't post the pictures from the Kombi show we went to two weeks ago in Darling Harbour! The event was held to celebrate Kombi's 60th Anniversary, and we popped by to see the cute vans and see Murray's friend Lisa who was there with her husband, kids & their own cute Kombi!

Apparently some colletors are into the 'rat' look - a bit worn, a bit funky I guess?

I like this one - cute colors!!

Cute, cute, cute!

Nice Weekend

We had a nice weekend down at my in-law's place - including a lovely BBQ out by the beach!
On the way down we got sidetracked a bit though. We were driving through the small town of Ulladulla and saw a small dog darting in and out of traffic. Murray quickly pulled over and I ran out and called 'HERE PUPPY! ' (even though he was an older dog - a small terrier I think). He turned when he heard me and started running full speed towards me, just as an SUV swerved to miss him - SO close! He was SO scared, and jumped right up into my arms. We turned around and drove back into town and stopped at the local vet that another person who had stopped told us about. They scanned him and could see he had a chip, but the number wasn't registered in their systems, so they said they'd have to keep him there until the vet could call the main chip registration line and find out who is owner is. Poor little thing, he was shaking he was so scared! But they took him in to feed him and give him some water, and I'm sure he'll be fine. I am just SO glad we were able to get him off the road safely!!

Wood & stuff

This weekend we went down to see my in-laws and bring a load of wood down for the bed Murray is going to build with his Dad - lucky that Bruce is long - it fit in just fine!

We had a lovely weekend or relaxing, eating lovely food and catching up!

On the way back we laughed when we noticed the graffiti on this van - hmmm. However I do think the idea for this company is brilliant - we see them all the time. They buy old soccer mom vans and kit them out with stuff for camping (bed, stove, storage, etc) then they graffiti them with all sorts of goofy sayings & drawings (this one had giant fish on the sides as well). Obviously they are doing well as these bumper stickers show how many countries they operate in!

Back home we still had some wood - didn't want to weight Bruce down too much in one trip! Just had to move it to the side last night so Betty could still fit in! The mechanic is fixing her up & she should be ready tomorrow - hooray!

Sometimes I really miss the tube

I love having a car again - especially after 3 of years of waiting for a bus, then a train, then another bus to get to work! But sometimes I really miss the tube..........

Yesterday I drove about a mile or 2 before realising that the temperature light was on! The gauge was on low, but the light was on. I called Murray & we decided I'd go home and ride into work with him as I had a morning meeting and didn't have time to call roadside assistance right then, and I was already running a little bit late!!

I had the guy from roadside assistance come last night, and he noticed that the coolant is low, and it has leaked ALL over (you can see it all over the place because it's Pink!). He gave me the worst and best case scenario, topped up the fluid, and told me it was a good thing our mechanic is so close by, otherwise he'd suggest I have a tow truck on standby just in case.

*sigh*

So I'm back with our other car Bruce today - which is always an adjustment. He is just SO much longer, and the blinker is on the other side which I always tend to forget when I first hop in. Oh well.

I'm crossing my fingers for the best case scenario (that a hose is just loose & is therefore leaking).

Sometimes I do miss the easy access to public transport that was frequent & cheap in London - so much less drama then having a car!!!

Feel better Bruce!

Bruce (our station wagon) is off to get fixed up over the next few days - we dropped him off this morning. He hurt his bum last week when Murray was rear ended in the harbour tunnel - not good! The back is banged up - so they are going to replace the bumper and the hatchback door, and at the same time they are going to fix up the scratches we incurred while getting used to such a long car.... Looking forward to getting him back soon looking all new and spiffy! Thank goodness for our tow bar though - that saved Bruce from MASSIVE damage. The girl who hit him totalled her car! Murray was fine as well - thank goodness. Just a good reminder to us all to DRIVE SLOW - especially in the tunnel (it is REALLY long, and has a downward slope when you are leaving the city and heading North - that is where she slid down and smashed into Bruce - because she was going too fast)!!
